Fit and Finish: Action was a little high for my taste but it was probably sitting around for a while. When I took the bass from it's case I heard something banging around in the control cavity. Of course not something you want to hear when you get a new instrument. So I had to open the control cavity. Found that the battery was not secured in its compartment. A little bit of foam solved that. However, It should have never been shipped from the factory like that. Don't like that the battery is in the same compartment as the electronics either. But I knew that it was there going in.
Frets are done correctly no sharp ends. Nut is cut properly. Blocks and Binding look fabulous. Neck pocket is tight and the honey-burst stain is done proper. After a setup and the battery fix the bass plays very nicely. Pickups and sound: I set my amp up so it is truly flat before plugging in. Electronics are decent easy to dial in a great slap tone. Little bit more difficult to coax that mid range burp from the bridge pickup.. It is there just takes a little while to find it. Neck pickup does give you that familiar p-bass type sound with out much effort. Overall a decent bass for the cost. I would say on par with an American Deluxe V for a lot less. Ned over at VSN was easy to deal with.
He saved me shipping costs. But VSN's website does not calculate CA to US dollars correctly. I paid 50 more US than what it listed when I made the actual purchase. So the so the savings on shipping was a wash. Also be aware of Taxes and Duty costs If you are ordering outside CA.
