  1. Amazing 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Apr 2016

Bought this at Steve's Music in Ottawa,Canada new for $190/Cdn.Great player.Changed the tuners to locking and although I did like the sound of the stock P-90,I decided to install a Lollar.I own A LOT OF GUITARS ,but somehow i seem to gravitate towards this one.Best value so far.

  2. A Dream Come True. 5 Star Review

I've been looking for a double cut LP Jr for eons. Gibson re-issues are $3000 clams. When I saw the Dillion for $198 amerikan I was a wee bit skeptical but all I saw was good reviews and I took a chance. The instrument I received is flawless, and plays like a Steinway Concert Grand! I swear, the thing plays itself! I'm replacing the bridge with a LP Jr Lightning Bolts wraparound...A very fine guitar! Cheers!

  3. Very good Guitar!!!! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Dec 2015

Bought the last Cherry Red. Got it 1 day before rehearsal, changed the strings, good to go, worked and sounded great. Needed a cheaper back-up guitar, but now I find I keep playing this one. I've worked for music stores and music equipment manufacturers for over 15 years and this by far was the best product at this price point. Good deal, Thanks!!!

  4. Awesome guitar, amazing service. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Aug 2015

I'm usually wary about buying guitars online, since by definition you are buying sight unseen and without the ability to hold and play the instrument and check for any defects before putting down your money on it. In fact, I'd recently bought a Fender that was a bit of a dud (but was able to be fixed thankfully). I can safely, honestly say that VSN Guitars has been my best experience buying a guitar online EVER.

I had wanted to buy a Les Paul DC Junior-style guitar to use as a modding platform. When buying a cheaper guitar, it's almost par for the course that you'll have to change things and replace parts but I obviously wanted to get as close to the real thing as I could. When I found the DXC-58 I knew this would be the perfect platform for my needs - solid mahogany body, correct shape, 95% correct headstock, correct controls, correct bridge, set neck... all for about 200 US dollars; for that price, the only other real option is a bolt-on, mystery wood Epiphone.

I contacted VSN and Ned was extremely helpful. I asked him if he'd mind hand-selecting a guitar and making sure the fretwork was good prior to shipping (since barring some sort of shipping damage, that's honestly the only thing that would have caused me to send the guitar back). He was extremely helpful and agreed. A few days later, the guitar was in my possession.

I wish I could give this guitar 10, 15 even 20 stars. I have Gibsons, I have Fenders, needless to say, I know a good guitar from a bad guitar and this is absolutely a VERY good guitar. The fretwork is *perfect*, no buzz, no need to get them leveled. The nut is cut perfectly and doesn't snag the strings. I spent a good 5-10 minutes looking over the body and there were no blemishes or imperfections - literally a 200 dollar guitar shipped 1000 miles and it has less finish flaws than you'd find on a Gibson hanging in a guitar shop.

Very dense body, but comfortable to play. Tone for ages. Tuners and original bridge were totally acceptable but I did replace them with more "vintage correct" parts in keeping with the theme of the guitar, rather than out of playability or tuning concerns - I dropped a pre-intonated Wilkinson bridge and some 3-on-a-plate Kluson tuners in and they fit perfectly; the Klusons even cover up the original offset tuner screw holes. It looks like it came like this from the shop!

The pickup is fantastic. I'm picky about P90's since a lot of times they're wound overly dark to appeal to the humbucker crowd or overly bright to appeal to the Fender-style single coil crowd. Not this one. This one has "that tone" P90's are famous for: pure, unbridled rock n' roll.

I do not say this lightly: stock and without a setup, this guitar is already superior to any Epiphone out there. With the new hardware and the setup I gave it, it is literally in the ballpark of my Gibsons, and for about 1/5th the price... and I had to put more work into my Gibsons to even get them to that level. With this it was as simple as change the bridge, change the tuners, re-string, intonate, ROCK.

In short, this is a pure rock n' roll machine and Ned/VSN Guitars gets two big thumbs up for their service.
